Hello to my European Pharmacist friends. A Medline search showed
many articles associating amiodarone with neuropathy. Here is a
brief summary of two of the articles. 1. +ACI-Mayo Clin Proc 1987 Aug+ADs-
62(8):702-717 Feiner LA, et. al. +ACI-Optic Neuropathy and Amiodarone
Therapy+ACI-: Appearance of optic neuropathy is probably a relative
indication for discontinuing the use of the drug, in the hopes of
avoding bialteral involvement or perhaps recovering vision. 2)
+ACI-Surv Ophthalmol 1998 Jan+ADs-42(4):360-366 Mantyjarvi, M, et.al:
+ACI-Ocular side effects of amiodarone.+ACI- Optic neuropathy in patients
receiving the drug for various lenghts of time has been reported as
having incidences of 1.3 +ACU- during the preciding 8 years and 1.76 +ACU-
during the precedine 10 years.
