Objet : PHARMACEUTICAL CONSULTING OPPORTUNITIES IN PAPUA NEW GUINEA

International, local and Australian reviews of the Papua New Guinea
pharmaceutical system have indicated that there is considerable scope for an
upgrade in the current pharmaceutical system. The Government of Papua New
Guinea has approached the Government of Australia for assistance to provide an
improved pharmaceutical procurement and distribution system. There will also be
support for programs related to the PNG National Drug Policy.

ACIL Australia Pty. Ltd. will be bidding to implement this project. We are
Australia's premier international development assistance firm. A private
company of more than 30 years standing, ACIL's experience extends across over
330 international development projects and 60 developing countries. With regard
to the proposed PNG Pharmaceutical Upgrade Project, ACIL has an extensive and
excellent track record in PNG.

We are currently seeking to identify people who may be interested in this
project. Areas of particular importance to this project are:

* - PHARMACEUTICAL PROCUREMENT AND DISTRIBUTION (logistics) experience, with
past management experience working in the pharmaceutical sector in a developing
country, or in remote and inaccessible locations in a developed country,
* - HOSPITAL PHARMACY MANAGEMENT with a thorough understanding of modern
inventory management, and past exposure to the challenges of working in a
developing country, or in harsh remote and inaccessible regions of a developed
country,
* - RATIONAL DRUG USE EDUCATION experience with a demonstrated capability in
designing and conducting education programs for health professionals and for the
community in relation to RDU. Experience on a Teaching Hospital Drug Committee
as well as previous work in a developing country or in remote locations
elsewhere,
* - RATIONAL DRUG USE CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT experience for medical, pharmacy
and nursing students. Developing country experience or remote location
experience would be favoured,
* - LEGAL TENDERING AND CONTRACTS EXPERTISE familiar with the requirements of
drug legislation, with past experience in the preparation of Acts/Regulations
relating to drugs/pharmaceuticals.
* - HEALTH SERVICES MANAGEMENT, including experience in hospital or laboratory
services, pharmaceutical services and information systems,

ACIL offer generous overseas consulting packages with accommodation and travel
to their advisers, couple with full support and security for the consultants and
their families in country. It is normally the case that advisers working on
AusAID (the Australian Government Agency for International Development) projects
in PNG for more than three months enjoy tax-free income conditions. This is of
course subject to the actual conditions of each contract, but you should check
with your financial adviser on the current status.

If you would like to be considered for any of these positions, or know of any of
your colleagues who may be interested in this project, please contact Greg
Gibbons or Fiona Kotvojs at ACIL in Melbourne - (03) 9819 2877 - fax (03) 9819
4216 - or Email - greg.gibbons@acil.com.au.
