Dear Members
I would like members to advise me of the your local hospital's policy
towards injections in which a few particles have been found.
The European Pharmacopoeia spec for injections allows for the presence
of a little particles in injections. So is it the case that on-line
filters will be used in all patients receiving iv injections in Europe
and North America? Will the hospitals stop using any batch of
injections in which particles have been found in a few vials.
In Hong Kong, the nurses always return all injections in which a few
particles have been seen. Very often these particles are due to coring
of the rubber caps and they expect the whole batch be withdrawn.
However, according to EP, this may be acceptable.
Thank you.
