Dear Ambika,
 
   Generally perople identify them as Critical (may be termed
major) and non-critical (may be termed as minor). Then obviously you
shall maintain log book of all critical instruments (as those are
instruments which has direct impact on your process). For non critical
equipments only maintenance and calibration log may be sufficient.
