Health professionals are notified of the possibility of drug
nteractions between St. John's Wort (hypericum perforatum), an herbal
product sold
as a >dietary supplement, and indinavir, a protease inhibitor used to treat
HIV infection. A study conducted by the National Institutes of Health
showed that a significant drug interaction substantially decreased indinavir
plasma concentrations, potentially due to induction of the cytochrome P450
