I don't see any regulatory constraint on changing erroneous input, as
long as
it is discovered before a process control decision has resulted in a
control
action.  A good control system would have error traps put in anyway for
just
that purpose.

Password protection and supervisory control would be a good idea if
there is a
possibility of changing data unrelated to the current error.
