Dear Murad
We also have a well established calibratiuon system but we do a daily
balance check (only in work days before the work starts). The importance of
the results and the simplicity of the check make this operation a benefical.
The main cost however is purchasing the weights (specially if they are high
grade and relatively heavy: 10-20Kg) and the yearly calibration.

Subject: Balances Daily Check.
Dear forum,
We have a well established GMP calibration system for all instruments and
balances in our plant. Balances used in different area of the plant are
calibrated at prdetermined interval .The calibration frequency was set
based the criticality of the usage and the history of the condition of the
balance when checked by calibration department before the next calibration.
I need a feed back from the forum on the folowing questions :
1- Is the balances used in production for tablet /capsules weight check
need to be checked on daily basis BY standard masses or weights before
usage?
2-If this is a requirment ,what is the reference for such requirment? FDA,
MCA ?
3-If it is not a regulatory requirment ,is it a widely known practice in
the industry ?What is the justification for such check if the calibration
frequency is satisfacory and no problem has been encountered between the
calibration periods.
