The Budapest Convention Centre (BCC) is an outstanding, purpose designed building adjacent to the Novotel Hotel - they interconnect to form a single complex just outside downtown Budapest, on the Buda side of the Danube. The complex is located at the intersection between the two major roads, Alkotás utca and Jagelló utca. The addresses and contact details are:

Access from Budapest Ferihegy Airport

Airport Minibus

This service to BCC from Ferihegy Airport offers 8-11 seats shared with other passengers. It is very convenient and inexpensive - the fare can be paid on the bus itself: 1500 Hungarian Forints(HUF)/person (about USD 6).

Taxi

Reliable taxi companies, including City Taxi (Tel: 211 1111) and Buda Taxi (Tel: 233 3333), are swift and convenient. The fare should be about 3800-4000 HUF (about USD 15) - it is normal courtesy to add a small tip (e.g. 10%). It should be noted that many of the private taxi companies have a reputation for are not being reliable - and the fares charged can be much more. The usual practice of establishing the approximate fare before taking a taxi is often helpful.

Access From Railway Stations

There are 3 main railway stations in Budapest. Access to BCC from each is summarised below. Tram tickets and Metro tickets can be bought from any Tabak shop on the railway station:

Arrival at railway station "Déli pu.": Take Tram Line No. 61. A taxi should cost about about 500 HUF (USD 2).

Arrival at railway station "Nyugati pu." : Take Tram Line No. 4 or No. 6 to Moszkva tér.(Moscow Square on the Buda side of the city). Then change to Tram Line No. 61. A taxi should cost about 1000 HUF (USD 4).

Arrival at railway station "Keleti pu.": Take Metro Line 2 (the red route) to Déli pu. Station (this is the terminal stop). Then change to Tram Line No. 61. A taxi should cost about 1500 HUF (USD 6).

Access from downtown Budapest

From the Pest side of the Erzsébet Bridge over the Danube take Bus Line No. 8 or No. 8A. If travelling from elsewhere in Budapest, check locally for the best connection to the junction between Alkotás utca and Jagelló utca.

Access by Car

Those travelling by car from the direction of Vienna on Motorway M-1 should drive to the end of the M-1 motorway; then drive along Budaörsi ut and Alkotás utca following the sign "Erzsébet hid" (Elizabeth Bridge) for about 2.5 km. The BCC/ Novotel Hotel is located at the junction with Jagelló utca and will be seen on the left hand side, just before the fly-over. There is plentiful parking space (free) at BCC and the Novotel Hotel.

Visa Requirements

The majority of delegates need no Entry Visa. Although in principle an Entry Visa for delegates from Armenia, Brasil, Egypt, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Macedonia, Nigeria, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates may be obtainable at Budapest Airport, it is advisable to obtain it from the Hungarian Consulates in these countries. Those who may need a certificate or a letter of invitation to assist their entry into Hungary will be sent one on request - they should contact the Congress Secretariat as soon as possible.
