Scope and Aim
Successful drug absorption and target delivery are prerequisites for the optimal treatment of diseases, using both established and novel devices and strategies. To meet the demands of this rapidly developing field of research, the European Federation for Pharmaceutical Sciences (EUFEPS) is planning the first World Conference in the field. This conference will concentrate on relevant and "hot" topics that have emerged since the successful 1997 International Conference on Drug Absorption, Edinburgh, UK, where EUFEPS was co-organiser.

Following an analysis made after the 1997 Conference, it was proposed that emphasis, in this 2001 Conference Programme, be put on the impact of the new biology, biochemistry including transporters, together with advances in physicochemical and structural properties, on the design and use of drugs with better absorption and delivery characteristics. Focus will be set on the oral route, but other extravascular routes will also be discussed.

Conference Language
The official language of the conference is English. No simultaneous interpretation will be provided.

Call for Abstracts
Scientific contributions relating to any aspect of drug absorption and drug delivery will be considered for poster presentation. Abstracts should be submitted to the EUFEPS Secretariat, both as an email attachment and as a hard copy; with extended deadline; April 1, 2001.
