The Process Technology Discussion Group is designed to provide a vehicle for the free exchange of information in scientific process development and general process technology. The discussion group is open to anybody with an interest in the fields of process technology on research, pilot, and industrial scale for pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, functional food, cosmetic and veterinary applications.
With growing global competition, many companies are having to re-engineer their operations to improve yield, efficiency, market share and profits. Process parameters have to be reviewed from both economic and ergonomic perspectives, whilst still maintaining a high product quality. New technologies are on the market, but without relevant experience it is often difficult for a potential user to select the best technology for a particular product, since every new technology claims to be the best! This forum, advised by experts from industry and science, can help you with process selection, optimizing existing process parameters, or finding professional assistance for entire problem solutions. This forum will also give guidance to academic projects, as the choice of the right process techniques in the product development phase has a major positive or negative impact on the commercial success of the product, i.e. the final production costs per kilo. Once the R & D work is complete, no company will voluntarily change the process technology for production. The process technology forum can of course also help you with troubleshooting for pending projects and operations.
The Process Technology Discussion Group is being moderated by Tony D'Emanuele (School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Central Lancashire).
