Flexibility of dosage for children under six years of age. Suspensions usually contain 120 mg in each five millilitres. Doses can be given in 5 ml spoons allowing a dose down to half a spoonful (60 mg paracetamol). Main use is in the treatment of fever associated with childhood infections and the discomfort of teething. Recommended for babies 2-3 months old for the treatment of fever following immunisation. Suspensions are stable and have a long shelf life Formulated to have a taste acceptable to children. Paracetamol is recommended for all age groups.
