Getting to Manchester


The University is very spread out - make sure you know which bit you're heading for before you arrive; it will save you a lot of time. These descriptions take you to the heart of the Main Campus. The actual Symposium is being held in Building 21 (Schuster Laboratory, Physics) on the campus map (above right).

From M61 & M62 (west)
Leave M62 at Junction 12 and join M602 Salford for 4 miles. At Motorway end join A57 Manchester (becoming A57(M) after 1 mile). Leave at A34 Congleton sign. Turn right into Booth Street East, then left into Oxford Road.
From M62 (northeast)
Leave M62 at Junction 18 to join M66. At Motorway end join A665. At roundabout take 2nd exit then left into Victoria Street and Deansgate. At traffic lights (Peter Street) turn left and follow signs to University.
From M56 (south)
Stay on M56; at Motorway end continue along A5103 Manchester for 4 miles. At roundabout take 3rd exit (A57) then 3rd exit again, down Higher Cambridge Street.
From M67 (east)
At Motorway end take A57 for 2 miles. Take A6010 at roundabout and after 1/2 mile turn right onto A5184. After 1/2 mile take the A6, then the A5184 (west). After 1 mile take the left fork onto the A34 (Upper Brook Street).
